Day 1, by Christopher

We slept on the train like cozy little campers in our perfectly-sized compartment.

As some of you know, I like compartments. And this compartment was especially special to me, because it was a people compartment.

The little ladder, the just-right mirror and sink, a bank of controls for everything from lights to heating to communications and a tiny dining car all had me reeling with joy the whole trip.

Plus, the train station itself is a fantastic vintage art deco masterpiece from the thirties.

And I've been trying to post photos for the last fifteen minutes to no avail. So I think I'm going to have to wait until later to show you guys some of the photos I'm talking about.

Which means we're working with words here. Okay, paint a picture.

Uh, there were lots of cats. And a bunch of guys asking me if I wanted to buy stuff I didn't want to buy. And the buildings were really, uh, colorful. And the food was good.

So you pretty much get the picture. I'm sure it's like you've arrived in Istanbul.

We'll post more when we can figure out how to deliver visual aids. They are very important to our evolving story. And if we have to rely on my descriptions alone to convey the events of this week, I think I'll tune right out with the rest of you.

Okay? Okay. So we'll send some pics and vids soon.
