Countdown Begins

As our time to leave for Turkey draws nearer, we've had suggestions from friends and family that we need to be practicing Turkish things.
Go to the Turkish restaurant in Dallas, start speaking some Turkish, cook a Turkish dish at home, find a Turkish radio station on iTunes...

No.

Forget that.

I've travelled enough to know; we need to be eating as many Taco Bell tacos, listening to as many Usher songs and speaking as much Texas talk as we can over the next 2 weeks.

I finally got to eat at the Meat Market, a Lewisville staple that has been in Old Town Lewisville for nearly 30 years.

I'm told in thirty years, nothing has changed.

Not even the clientele.

The menu varies from day to day so you never know what you're going to get.  I had a great smoked ham sandwich.   And you get to stare at fresh slabs of raw meat while you eat.

Then my new mother-in-law and I made our way to the Lewisville Feed Store.

Another Lewisville landmark that I must have driven by thousands of time and never been in.
It's actually the sight of the first Lewisville post office.

Back when that only required 30 or so boxes in one room.

They have everything from lady bugs, to fox urine granules to hay bales.

Chris and I also fit in some old-school American bowling.

Not so sure Turkey will be able to accommodate our bowling needs.

Then again, I don't think our needs exceed more than one game of bowling once every 5 years.

Tonight we're hitting Chipotle and going to say "fixin' to" as many times as we can.
