Nada

We have not packed anything.

We don't have our airline tickets yet.

We won't have our apartment after the 11th.

We can't do anything to speed up or help the VISA process so

We no worry!

Countdown Begins

As our time to leave for Turkey draws nearer, we've had suggestions from friends and family that we need to be practicing Turkish things.
Go to the Turkish restaurant in Dallas, start speaking some Turkish, cook a Turkish dish at home, find a Turkish radio station on iTunes...

No.

Forget that.

I've travelled enough to know; we need to be eating as many Taco Bell tacos, listening to as many Usher songs and speaking as much Texas talk as we can over the next 2 weeks.

I finally got to eat at the Meat Market, a Lewisville staple that has been in Old Town Lewisville for nearly 30 years.

I'm told in thirty years, nothing has changed.

Not even the clientele.

The menu varies from day to day so you never know what you're going to get.  I had a great smoked ham sandwich.   And you get to stare at fresh slabs of raw meat while you eat.

Then my new mother-in-law and I made our way to the Lewisville Feed Store.

Another Lewisville landmark that I must have driven by thousands of time and never been in.
It's actually the sight of the first Lewisville post office.

Back when that only required 30 or so boxes in one room.

They have everything from lady bugs, to fox urine granules to hay bales.

Chris and I also fit in some old-school American bowling.

Not so sure Turkey will be able to accommodate our bowling needs.

Then again, I don't think our needs exceed more than one game of bowling once every 5 years.

Tonight we're hitting Chipotle and going to say "fixin' to" as many times as we can.

One Month in Review

Today marks the one month anniversary of Chris and I's hike through Marriedom.

I say hike because a lot of the time that's what it feels like.

We go up a hill together.  Then down a hill together.

There's always an adventure around the corner; some days you find bears, other days a beautiful sunset.

Chris and I didn't live together before getting married, therefore, the majority of our answers to "how's married life?" revolve around what we've learned since living with each other.

Things that Chris finds strange about me:

I am willing to eat butter that has been expired for one month.

I drink milk straight from the carton.

I don't shower everyday.

I buy limes for decoration, not for consumption.

I can buy white decorative icing with decorating tips and not even miss them until Chris finds them a month later under my car seat.

I pour two smaller bowls of cereal instead of one large one so the contents don't have so much time to get mushy.

I can think of 8 things I'd rather do than see a movie.

Things I find strange about Chris:

He doesn't brush his teeth every night.

He likes his food lukewarm.

He enters a toll road to go just one exit.

He has compartments for his compartments.

Sometimes he laughs in his sleep.

He buys .50 cent "This Week in Bible Prophecy" VHS tapes.

He has 6 pairs of scissors on his desk (and I've never seen him cut anything.)

And so, as we roll into month two, the hike continues, and the hikers brace themselves for a big trek across a pond.

No telling what strangeness lies there ahead.

Taco Time

You know it's time to move when...

you start blogging about tacos.

It's one of Chris's favorite things, yes.  But seriously, as I sit down tonight to write, I can't think of much else to write about other than the tacos we had for dinner.

And it wasn't even the dinner we had tonight or last night...this was last week.

I think a move to Turkey is not only a great opportunity, but also extremely necessary at this point.
