Best in Show

At the 2008 Austin Addy

Awards my sister April

took home a special

judges award for her

work on the Shiner

Chicago launch.

She also won

Best of Show

print for

her Shiner decals.

If you like our save the dates and
our wedding invites, that's April as
well.

She is quite talented and I'm proud
of her.

I nominate her "Best in Boots".

Chris Conquers 29

Tuesday, February 26, 2008

Today Chris celebrates his 29th birthday.

My early surprise birthday present to him was 2 tickets to see Monty Python's "Spam-a-Lot" in NYC.

I managed to pull off the surprise and Chris and I agreed it was probably the best show we've both ever seen.

What a treat the world got when this boy was born.

My love to the birthday boy.

A Farewell to Proposals

Sunday, February 24, 2008

Today Chris performs his last show with the Lewisville Community Theatre.

His rise back to acting was well-received and I for one hope he continues to act.

Thank you to everyone who came out in support. It made Chris' nights and mine as well.

Thanks Mom, Dad, Mr. and Mrs. Wehkamp, Emily, Uncle Jay and Aunt Ros, Nan, Nana, Beth and Everett and Alyssa, Shelley (and the family for letting us have her that night!), John and Ryan and Caleb and Shea, Dave, Jenica, Julie, Keri, Christie, Kori, Becca, Jenny, Tina and girls, and all the cast for making me feel at home night after night.

A Salute to Valentine's Day

Friday, February 15, 2008

For Christmas this year my mom received a gift from one of her seventh grade students. She claimed at the time that this gift would reign as bizarre teacher gift for years to come.

I had to concede that it did in fact beat out the model clipper ship one of my second graders gave me two years ago.

Today though, I think the scorpion ashtray might have met its match.

The Stuff Honeymoons Are Made Of

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

Well, Friday I came home to a great surprise.

Chris had gone to a travel agent and had laid out on the counter an array of fun honeymoon destinations and ideas.  It was so much fun looking through the pamphlets and dreaming about our upcoming vacation together.

After perusing the materials for awhile, Chris mentioned he had got something else for me while out that afternoon.
How exciting!  What could it be?!

A new bathing suit for the trip?  A camera accessory?  A new book I could start reading?

Nope.

It was a bottle of Beano.

One week of living together and Chris felt it was necessary that I discover the benefits of a gas-reducing enzyme supplement.

I think it's fair to say the "honeymoon" period is ending.

But we are now well equipped for the actual honeymoon.

Week one - success.

Not So Super Bowl

Four hours of football watching.
Only excitement was when the dog started humping Chris' leg.

Two Addresses, One Home, Two Weeks

Monday, February 4, 2008

Dear Mom and Dad,
(and future Mom and Dad)

Chris and I are taking part in a new social experiment.

It's called pre-marriage trial living together.

Chris moved in this weekend and we will "live together" for two weeks. At the end of two weeks he will move out and we will live in autonomy until our next trial period.

We realized we have both been living alone for about eight years and are quite used to having our own space and our own things and our own way of living.

Just like the 5K in March, we're training.
Throwing ourselves into the same apartment on June 22 might be a bit much, so we're easing into the idea. Few days here, few weeks there, eventually moving up to the big 80 year together thing.

So far so good.

All 3 days have been successful.

Chris took me to Tom Thumb to pick out any flowers I wanted.
I suffered through 4 hours of boys throwing around a football and bad commercials.
Chris endured my first ever night of sleep-talking, and I put his towel in the dryer so it would be warm for him when he got done with his shower.

Ah, temporary pre-marital still best-behavior living together.

It's not for everyone, but so far, it's been good for us.

We hope you'll stay tuned.

We love you,

Sarah & Chris

Jack and the Witch

Friday, February 1, 2008

For Christmas, Chris wanted a DVD of a Japanese anime that he saw while on a family vacation back in 1986.

The movie got cut short when Chris's folks were ready to leave for dinner, thus Chris never got to see the end.

All he knew was that "The Witch" ended up being an evil robot and she had captured some boy named Jack. He's always wondered how the movie ended, so being the great fiancee that I am, I resolved to give him his wish.

I started in November and hunted for weeks for this thing.

Finally, I found the movie, Jack and the Witch. I went against all of Oprah's identity theft advice and gave my phone number to "John" in Idaho who promised to send me the film after the ice storm they were having.

Great.

But sure enough, it showed up on my doorstep one week later.

We finally watched it last weekend.

I have never laughed so hard at a cartoon in all my life.

At times I was completely lost and wanted to escape to the bedroom and read a book, but I hung in there.

At the end Chris looked at me and said "Yeah, I don't think that was the right movie."

WHAT?!

I would have felt like a complete failure except that after the credits finished rolling Chris and I's attention was brought back to the screen where some kind of extra Japanese film began playing.

The quality is so-so because I got my TV in 1997.

And yes, the Christmas tree has since been taken down.
